Our French Language Services Unit received two complaints from people who called the general DriveTest phone line to book driving tests and were obligated to listen to a 90-second message in English only.
Our French Language Services Unit received two complaints from people who called the general DriveTest phone line to book driving tests and were obligated to listen to a 90-second message in English only. The message, which was added to the line to explain new information about services during the COVID-19 pandemic, did not include any information in French until after the English message. After we intervened, DriveTest recorded a new message that gives callers the option to choose French or English at the outset. They can then listen to the information about pandemic protocols and available services in the language of their choice.
